Our Guiding Principles
1 - We believe that producing well-staged community theater is fun.
2 - We value all our key supporters -- our audience, volunteers, members, business and
programming partners, and cast members. Without their support, we have no reason to
        exist.
3 - We strive for growth among all our key supporters.
4 - We define success as providing enjoyment and entertainment for our key supporters.
5 - We will be responsive to our key supporters by asking them for their comments and
suggestions on our programming and special events.
6 - We will produce a variety of musicals and non-musicals to provide diverse casting
opportunities for local actors and actresses of all ages and races.
7 - We will give all potential actors a fair audition and treat them with respect and dignity.
8 - We will welcome new volunteers and embrace them as part of our theater family.
9 - We will help all volunteers reach their full potential.
10 - We will create a climate of fun, enjoyable teamwork, and nurture a spirit of cooperation
that works toward our common goal of producing well-staged community theater plays.
11 - We pledge to be a good community citizen.
Kernersville Little Theatre
A Brief Overview

Kernersville Little Theatre ("KLT") is a volunteer-based organization with the objective to provide an avenue for development in all aspects of theatrical arts for all within the community and to provide entertainment for the community by offering a series of well-staged performances of live theater.

KLT was established in 1976 with a grant from the Urban Arts Council of Winston-Salem. The driving force behind the organization of the group was a team of 3 dedicated women: Lucy Lewis, Becky Mohler and Joan Hope. The first production of the fledgling organization was the comedy "You Can't Take It With You" by Moss Hart and George Kaufman, produced in July of 1977. Since then, KLT has mounted over 100 productions. Currently, we present four different shows in each September-June season.

KLT is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors. These Board members generally serve three-year terms, with no term limits, and many have served on an ongoing basis. Because there is no paid executive director or artistic staff - only a part-time office staffer -- with the officers of the Board overseeing both artistic and business management of the organization, the ability to serve multiple terms enhances continuity.

KLT has no "home", and performs in available spaces throughout Kernersville. We take grateful advantage of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System's community schools program, whereby organizations within the community can rent certain facilities. As a result, you will often find us in the Kernersville Elementary School auditorium and occasionally on the other side of town at Glenn High School.

Once a year we perform in historic Körner's Folly, where the top- floor theatre, Cupid's Park, has been known as one of the first private little theatres in America for decades.

At Christmas time you will find KLT in church sanctuaries with a special holiday production which often features our youngest performers as they join the KLT family. The holiday show is a great introduction to KLT for both volunteers and audience members, and $1 of each adult, student or senior ticket is donated to the Kernersville Christmas Stocking Fund.

KLT dreams of the day that Kernersville has a permanent performance space to offer as a home base for our organization and others in the community. Until then, look for us throughout Kernersville, and Come Play With Us!

KLT Office open 10:00AM-2:00PM   Monday-Friday - Phone 993- 6556.
