Hello Patrons and Friends,
As you all know, we cheekily themed this season Adapt-ability due to the nature of the unknown that is COVID. We have been committed to bring you live theatre during these challenging times; however, the time has come for us to pull a quick lane shift and switch gears as we want to be able to do that safely and responsibly — and do not feel that indoors is the place to do it at this time.
Due to safety and venue needs, we regretfully have to postpone “Sherlock Holmes & The Baker Street Irregulars” to a future season. However, we are excited to still be able to provide our patrons with live theatre — and we will be back with our community partners and friends outdoors at the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden for… Eleemosynary. Our new production dates will be April 15, 16 and 17. Your season flex passes are good for this production.
Eleemosynary examines the delicate relationship of three women: a grandmother, Dorothea, who has sought to exert her independence through strong willed eccentric behavior, Artie, her daughter, who has run from her overpowering mother, and Echo, Artie’s daughter, who is incredibly smart and equally sensitive. It is a study of family relationships, and both through humor and poignant moments, highlights the need for connection and forgiveness. It is an intimate show, and perfect for these times.
We value your support during this trying season — and cannot thank you enough for your faith in us to purchase a season ticket — not knowing what may lie ahead. While not always getting to perform the show that may be our first choice, this season has shown that KLT is resilient, and ever a chameleon — always able to make the best out of taking our show on the road and learning from those experiences.
ADAPT-Ability time! When our Board of Directors named our 2020-2021 season, we knew uncertain times were ahead. While our playful theme suggested a season of potential change, I don’t think any of us imagined that we wouldn’t have access to our traditional venue for an entire season due to prevailing safety needs. We are so humble and grateful for our patrons who have supported us in our ever-evolving season with your words of encouragement, your attendance, and a shared passion for theatre.
With that said-changing venues and set needs require that we make a change to the last show in our line-up. Bright Star will be produced at a later date — and we are committed to working it in as soon as feasible. The KLT Board of Directors is pleased to announce that we will perform the final show of our 2020-2021 season, The Little Mermaid, at Bishop McGuiness Catholic High School June 17-20, 2021. Additional information about upcoming auditions will be posted on our social media pages later today.
