About these shows:
Two short shows that embrace the Christmas season.
Believe! combines traditional Christmas music with a sweet, contemporary story. It’s ten days before Christmas, and 15-year-old Alex Norton is struggling. He’s always loved Christmas, but the shine has left his favorite holiday. How will he find the spirit of the season again? “Filled with the warmth and laughter and brightened by traditional Christmas song, everyone touched by this play will find something in which they can truly … Believe!”
The Gift of the Magi is based on the classic O. Henry tale, a touching and beautiful story of a young couple unable to afford presents for each other on their first Christmas together. Each sacrifices a treasure to provide a gift for the other but, in so doing, they work at almost tragically funny cross-purposes. This is a play about young love and the value of giving. Indeed, the Magi were wise and their gifts were wise gifts, however foolish in the eyes of the practical.
About our director:
Randy Morris – After taking a 25-year break from school, Randy returned to UNCG in 2000 to pursue a degree in drama. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2002.
Since earning his degree, Randy has worked as a director and lighting designer throughout the Triad. His directing credits include Driving Miss Daisy, Sylvia, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Miss Firecracker Contest, The Christmas Bus, The Importance of Being Earnest, and, most recently, Appalachian Geisha, the 2012 North Carolina New Play Project.
Randy is currently the lighting designer for the Greensboro Children’s Theatre and works for the Greensboro City Arts Drama Center as a part-time instructor. He is also a member of the Greensboro Playwrights’ Forum and several of his short plays have been produced by the Forum.
Randy is happy to return to KLT, his “home theatre,” as director of KLT’s 2012 Christmas production: the one-act plays Believe! and The Gift of the Magi. He hopes to see a lot of people at auditions. He lives in Kernersville with his lovely wife, Barbara, and their fat, furry feline, Feebie.
