About the show:

If you thought you knew the story of “The Princess and The Pea,” you may be in for a walloping surprise! Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that Lady Larken’s love for Sir Harry provided a rather compelling reason that she reach the bridal altar post haste? Or that, in fact, it wasn’t the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night?

Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Chances are you’ll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again.

About our director:

Katie Jo Icenhower has a degree in musical theatre with additional drama studies in London. After school, she performed professionally around the country only to realize (like Dorothy) that there is no place like home. Locally, she has acted, directed and choreographed both professionally and with numerous community theatres.

So, what does she do for a living? She’s a real estate agent with Leap Realty. “Real estate allows me to do theatre. Recently, however, it’s been the other way around. Still, I love what I do in both worlds. This will be my third time directing a KLT show. When KLT called me about directing Once Upon A Mattress with them, I didn’t have to sleep on it because for me, it’s a dream job.”
